Early Life and Career

The only daughter of 2 career Starfleet officers, moving from one assignment to another, Kingsley always felt like she was a burden to her parents, and never truly got to know them. She was given experiences many experiences a lot of children would never dream off, but despite all that, all Kingsley ever wanted was a chance to simply spend time with her family. An incredibly smart child, Kingsley easily came to grips with many of the facets of living on starships and starbases, but she always felt guilty that she didnt seem to enjoy the experience as much as her parents did. It was a desire to prove herself to them that led her to Starfleet Academy.

But this was not meant to be, and after a year of attending the institution, she decided to leave, realising she was doing it for all the wrong reasons. Surprisingly, she also found out that her parents had been stunned by her decision to even attend, and more then understood her desire to find her own path.

She quickly enrolled at Oxford for the following academic year, and soon distinguished herself, staying the course and graduating with a Ph.D and full honours in Politics and Interstellar Relations. She was quickly recruited into the Diplomatic Corps due to severeal papers she had written, as well as the work on her graduating thesis. She quickly established a name for herself, despite being a lower-ranking member of the Corps, and worked her way up the ladder, being assigned to various missions to diplomatic hotspots.

It was one of these missions that lead her to her future husband, a point in her career where she slowed down to focus on family, and took a fixed position on Earth. By 2377, shortly after the return of the USS Voyager, she returned to more active duty, again making a name for herself, and when Nanietta Bacco became Federation President, she decided to put Kingsley where she could do the most use, making her an Ambassador-at-Large, a position that continued after Bacco\'s term ended and Se\'Fron took over the Presidental seat. It was Se\'Fron that appointed Kingsley to tour the Federation worlds near and around the Briar Patch, loaning his presidental ship, \'\'Starfleet-One\'\', for the mission.

However, the last several years had been tough on Kingsley, and resuming the pace she had once kept proved very exhausting, despite all the good she was doing. Towards the end of the tour, she became very disenchanted with her work, and the Federation in general, given the many conflicts they had been involved in so recently. It was her visit to Tahn\'Los that helped reinvigorate her, which is why she gladly accepted the position of Federation Ambassador to the planet.

Family and Personal Life

The proud mother of 2 children, Kingsley has always strived to balance being a mother alongside being an official representative of the United Federation of Planets. Her assignment to Tahn\'Los came at a time when she was finding herself disenchanted with where her career had begun to go, so settling down allows her to finally get some perspective and spend some time with her teenage son, while her daughter embarks on her own career path.

Relationships

Dalonis Tohre

During her brief year attending Starfleet Academy, Kingsley took a class in Interstellar Law, which the young Alpha Centuarian worked as a Teaching Assistant. Kingsley quickly got Tohre\'s attention due to her willful questioning of the class material and constant debating with the professor, and the two became fast friends, a friendship that always seemed on the verge of a possible romantic relationship. The two eventually decided they were happy as friends, and were both worried what taking their relationship further could result in.

It was Tohre that helped Kingsley realise she just wasn\'t happy following the family path of Starfleet, explaining he had been in the reverse position, being the first of his family to join. Thanks to his advice, Kingsley decided to strike her own path, quitting the Academy, and enrolling at a civillian university, to pursue her love of politics and diplomacy.

Richard Peterson

Kingsley met Richard Peterson during a rather tense diplomatic mission mediating a dispute between 2 neighbouring Federation worlds. Peterson was the science officer of the USS Franklin, the Starfleet vessel assigned to the mission, and due to the situation, developed a close working bond, that eventually florished into a romantic relationship. The two quickly married after a whirlwind beginning, when Kingsley discovered she was pregnant with her first child. But due to Peterson\'s committment to his Starfleet career, the two were frequently seperated, especially since Kingsley herself continued to pursue her own career. After she gave birth, she voluntarily took a more stable assignment within the Diplomatic Corps on Earth, anf focused on raising her daughter Megan, realising she wanted to give her daughter the kind of upbringing she herself had desired, not wanting her own daughter to feel she never got to know her parents. She made a point of making sure Megan spent plenty of time with her father, even going so far as to have her spend various summer vacations with him.

Unfortunately, Kingsley\'s own relationship with her husband became strained over the next several years during his many assignments away from the family, until Peterson was forced to return home on medical leave, after he was one of the survivors of his ship\'s destruction during a mission gone awry. It was during his time at home that Kingsley became pregnant again, and she hoped that the birth of their son Seth would bring them closer. However, they soon realised that although they still cared for each other, their relationship had run it\'s course, and they no longer loved each other. They divorced on good terms, and since he was still grounded due to his injuries, Peterson took over full time care of the children, allowing Kingsley to resume her own career aspirations.

Seth and Megan Kingsley

Her two children are the center of Kingsley\'s universe, and it was the realisation that she had spent so much time away from them that lead her to settle down, allowing them both to live with her. While 16-year-old Seth has taken up the challenge of moving to a new world, 23-year-old Megan has recently graduated from Starfleet Academy, as a full fledged stellar physicist, and was only able to take leave in order to accompany her mother during the final leg of the Briar Patch tour.
